Real Estate Market in 2014
Things are looking great for the coming year. There are many positive signs.
Interest rates are expected to stay low.
According to the Commerce Department in October, building permits rose 6.2% to a 5 year high!
The S&P/Case-Schiller 20 city index showed home prices climbing 13.3% in September, the strongest annualized gain in more than 7 years!
Open House traffic is up!
Showings are up even in December!
And finally people reporting the news are not in the Real Estate business and I am. I do this business EVERY day.

What the "6 o'clock" news should be telling you.
There are more homes that have sold this year than last year!
Interest rates are at historic all time lows!
Home prices are now affordable!
The cost to rent exceeds the cost of buying a home!
And finally there has never been a better time to buy a home!
In the future, buyers will be saying "I could have bought a home at $-------- (fill in the price) and at -% (fill in the rate) interest rate" and the market will then be filled with "I could'a, I should'a, why didn't I? regrets"
NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY!

Discount Commissions or listing for less
I've said this in a previous post but it is worth repeating:
Since commissions are negotiable you might think asking your Realtor to discount or reduce the rate they charge you is a good idea. But is that in your best interest? NO and here is why... A tattoo artist was questioned about a popular tattoo "born to lose" and the interviewer was shocked and asked why someone would want to put such a message on their body. The artist replied: "that message was tattooed on the brain, long before I put it on the body". The same psychological message is conveyed when a Realtor discounts a commission, whether consciously or subconsciously. A home is probably one of your largest financial investments. Do you really want to entrust one of your largest investments to someone who is "born to lose"?
